GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Office of the Attorney General is looking for a talented and highly motivated individual with deep expertise in application development, SaaS platforms, and systems integration. Our application development environment spans a variety of business domains including, but not limited to, forms and workflow, case management, financial and resource management, and a multitude of web-based applications. The development platforms we employ include Force.com Java/Apex and some legacy in-house Java JBoss/Seam. The ideal person will be spearheading the management, execution and integration of new technology solutions that deliver value and lasting business impact to both internal users and external constituents.
Additionally, the architect must be capable of wearing many hats including a business analyst, technologist, leader, facilitator, and mentor. This person will set the tone and direction for the agency’s application development initiatives well into the foreseeable future. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Leads, collaborates, and communicates architectural vision and governance models to technology and development teams
Provide thought leadership to organization to influence improved agility, deeper understanding of platform capabilities, and higher quality products
Design and oversee end-to-end solutions that provide capabilities that can be leveraged and extended for future requirements
Leads programmers, system analysts, testers, and 3rd party software teams in building high-quality code and solutions at speed
Delivers high quality applications within requested timelines, with little or no guidance
Provides regular high-level communications to leadership staff and detailed communications to agency stakeholders
Performs related work as assigned
Maintains relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions
Attends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work schedule
Ensures security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information
Complies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; experience in the following (or closely related) fields may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis: technology and software development, enterprise architecture
Experience: Nine years of full-time experience working in the following (or closely related) fields: technology and software development
Experience: Migrating or transforming legacy solutions to the cloud
Experience: Two years of technology design, implementation, or consulting in one or more of the following areas: legacy modernization, enterprise architecture, data/information management, systems integration, or agile transformation
Knowledge of Salesforce (previous experience greatly preferred)
Knowledge and experience with server side Java
Knowledge of ESBs (Mulesoft preferred)
Knowledge and experience with systems integration
Ability (and preference) to work in an Agile environment
Ability to explain technology concepts to division leaders, as well as business concepts to technologists
Ability to promote ideas and processes internally at all levels
Skill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines
Skill in effective oral and written communication.
Skill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision making
Ability to receive and respond positively to constructive feedback
Ability to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environment
Ability to provide excellent customer service
Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel
Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSA
Ability to lift and relocate 30 lbs.
Ability to travel (including overnight travel) up to 5%

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Technical degree; with computer science, math, or engineering
Experience: Ten years of full-time experience working in the following (or closely related) fields: technology and software development
Experience: Strategic technology planning experience; experience in technology planning and execution, as well as policy development and maintenance
Experience: Technical writing, design spec documentation, requirement traceability, risk/issue management or tracking
Experience: Five years of experience developing a variety of Java or Salesforce applications
Experience: Extensive experience systems integration
Knowledge: Strong understanding of SalesForce.com best practices and functionality
Knowledge: Knowledge of best practices in data management
