Performs moderately complex (journey-level) attorney work. Reviews disputed assessments and refund denials. Works with taxpayers, auditors, and other agency personnel to resolve disputed tax issues and claims. Represents agency in hearings to address unresolved tax or legal issues. Negotiates to dismiss cases or proceeds to a SOAH hearing to obtain a Comptroller’s Decision. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
