Performs complex (journey-level) computer programming work as well as computer systems support work for agency IT systems and staff. Programming work involves analyzing system specifications to develop software for computer applications; developing solution software; documenting the methods and procedures used in software development; and testing, correcting, revising, and maintaining software. Support work involves providing computer support to agency staff, managing end user computers and their configurations, and training staff to use systems efficiently. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Occasional overtime and non-standard hours are possible.  Various other computer support duties may be assigned as they become necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (License, Education, Experience):

Experience, education, and training that provide a well-developed understanding of the practices, principles, and techniques of systems analysis, computer programming (languages – HTML, CSS, C#, PHP, JavaScript) (frameworks – .NET, Visual Studio), cybersecurity concepts, and end-user support practices. The ability to maintain a professional demeanor and the capacity to communicate in a respectful manner.  Advanced communication skills and a desire to work directly with staff in a support and training capacity. A work or school history that demonstrates a strong work ethic, dedication, and self-motivation.  Education and experience may be substituted for one another.


Knowledge and/or experience with .NET Core, Microsoft 365, Azure Active Directory, PowerShell, Windows 10, Windows Server, Apache, IIS, and Linux. Experience with MySQL database and server back-up/restore concepts. Ability to write system and application documentation, policies, and procedures. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or a related field
