GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

APPROPRIATION CONTROL OFFICER I: Performs routine (journey-level) appropriations control work which includes accounting, budget and analytical work, technical appropriation assistance, financial system support, accounting research, and training and support for smaller/less complicated agencies; interprets legislative provisions, including the General Appropriations Act (GAA); monitors state agencies’ legislative appropriations and cash activity for compliance with legislative requirements; provides detailed guidance to agencies on Comptroller policies and procedures; works with other oversight agencies on various issues including the implementation of legislative mandates, research and analysis; works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

APPROPRIATION CONTROL OFFICER II: Performs moderately complex (journey-level) appropriations control work which includes being responsible for technical appropriation assistance, financial system support, accounting research, and training and support for large/complicated agencies. Interprets legislative provisions, including the General Appropriations Act (GAA). Monitors state agencies’ legislative appropriations and cash activity for compliance with legislative requirements. Provides detailed guidance to agencies on Comptroller policies and procedures. Works with other oversight agencies on various issues including the implementation of legislative mandates, and research and analysis. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
