Texas Department of Motor Vehicles
Performs advanced (senior-level) revenue accounting work for the Accounting Operations Section in the Finance and Administrative Services Division of the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles. Work involves preparing and overseeing the revenue accounting processes and related reporting requirements; and establishing, maintaining, and overseeing the revenue systems. May assign the work of others. Works under minimal supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree with major course work accounting, finance, accounting information system, business administration, business management or a related field plus five (5) years’ progressively responsible experience in accounting, accounting/financial analysis or related area using the Uniform Statewide Accounting System (USAS), Centralized Accounting & Payroll/Personnel System (CAPPS), or other integrated accounting system. Additional experience in accounting, accounting/financial analysis, financial systems or related area may be substituted for education on a year for year basis. (Experience requirements may be satisfied by full-time experience or the prorated part-time equivalent.) Experience with financial reporting tools such as COGNOS preferred.

Plans, organizes, coordinates and/or directs the daily operations of the revenue processing for the Department.
Oversees the detailed reporting of revenue transactions made by various operating units.
Develops methods for the control of cash receipts, deposits and disbursements.
Oversees the allocation of state and federal funds to agency operation programs, and develops suitable plans for validating and matching the various funds used in financing agency operations.
Oversees and/or prepares financial reports.
Formulates and revises unit and Department policies regarding the revenue collections.
Coordinates and monitors the testing of revenue application system implementations, upgrades and data table changes, including those impacting Texas.Gov and the State Treasury.
Maintains overall quality control of the accounting system – the Centralized Accounting & Payroll/Personnel System (CAPPS), the Uniform Statewide Accounting System (USAS) and other Department revenue processing systems – and ensures the integrity of system processing and accounting files.
Analyzes and recommends improvements, adaptations, or revisions to the accounting system and accompanying procedures.
Audits general journal entries and payments, cash and related vouchers.
Performs reconciliation of revenue transactions throughout the various revenue applications.
May design and consult with information technology staff in the development and management of Department revenue processing and reporting systems.
May assign the work of others.
Performs related work as assigned.
