JOB SUMMARY:
If you are a conscientious, detail-oriented Architect looking for an opportunity to advance within an organization, we would like to speak with you about joining TFC’s A/E Design Services (AEDS) program. As part of an in-house design/build team, AEDS provides in-house professional design services primarily for interior remodeling projects in approximately 30 state-owned office buildings and warehouse spaces in the Austin area.
As a team leader in the AEDS program, you will perform advanced (senior-level) architectural work. Work involves coordinating, planning, programming, reviewing, designing, and producing contract documents utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM) software. You must be capable of producing design documents, specifications, and plans according to the standard methods applicable to architectural practice. You may be responsible for assigning and or supervising the work of others. You will work under the direction of the AEDS Manager with minimal supervision and considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plans and coordinates architectural, design, and construction projects including those of high complexity and large in scope, ensuring that codes, standards, and project requirements are met.
- Prepares design drawings, records, and administrative and technical reports.
- Prepares information regarding design, specifications, materials, color, equipment, estimated costs, and construction time.
- Determines functional and spatial requirements of new structures or renovations.
- Conducts special studies for architectural or construction projects, reduces facts to specific findings, and recommends solutions.
- Conducts inspections and evaluates data for compliance with laws and specifications.
- Develops and prepares consultant contracts, participates in the selection of consultants and negotiations with consultants on fees as assigned.
- Performs data collection, evaluation, analyses, investigations, inspections, forecasts, and assessments associated with facility projects.
- Provides architectural and· construction management technical assistance to others.
- Coordinates with contractors, construction managers, inspectors, project managers, and code officials; conducts field observation of work in progress to assure contract compliance.
- May provide public presentations and training regarding various areas of design, including architectural history, public improvements, preservation, urban design, sustainability and building rehabilitation as well as agency or program procedures and methods.
- May serve as a lead worker providing direction to others.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a professional degree in Architecture.
- Licensed to practice Architecture in the State of Texas.
- Seven (7) years-experience in architectural work, preferably in the design of commercial office space.
- Valid State of Texas Class “C” driver’s license.
- Architectural and design principles, techniques, and procedures;
- the International Family of Codes, NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, and Accessibility Standards.
- Specifications related to design work;
- Mathematical applications.
- Construction methods and management;
- Public administration and management techniques, practices, and procedures.
- Applicable rules, regulations, and policies, as well as related legislative and legal practices and procedures.
