GENERAL DESCRIPTION Performs routine (journey-level) motor vehicle operations for the Office of the Attorney General’s (OAG) Contracts and Asset Management Division. Work involves operating motor vehicles in transporting passengers or cargo. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Responds to multiple assignments for pickup and delivery of documents, equipment/boxes, etc. throughout the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) office buildings and other locations in the Austin metropolitan area; secures accurate and legible receipts of delivery in accordance with OAG guidelines Operates motor vehicles such as automobiles, vans, trucks, and buses to pick up various types of cargo and to transport passengers Performs occasional under-the-hood inspections of courier vehicles and maintains daily mileage logs, prepares and maintains records pertaining to vehicle operation, and promptly reports vehicle problems to the fleet management coordinator Assists in the safe loading and unloading of passengers and cargo; ensures vehicle passenger and cargo capacity is not exceeded, passengers use safety restraints, and cargo is distributed to reduce maximum axle loading; and secures cargo Performs vehicle maintenance Provides back-up to the Mail Operations Center Performs related work as assigned Maintains relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions Attends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work schedule Ensures security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information Complies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent Must possess a valid United States driver’s license Knowledge of city streets and ability to navigate to prescribed locations in a timely manner Knowledge of traffic regulations Knowledge of maintaining motor vehicles Skill in operating motor vehicles in a safe manner Skill in using computer for word processing and data entry retrieval Skill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines Skill in effective oral and written communication Skill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision making Ability to receive and respond positively to constructive feedback Ability to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environment Ability to provide excellent customer service Ability to provide a current valid Texas driver’s license and good driving record Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSA Ability to lift and relocate 50 lbs. on a regular basis Ability to travel (including overnight travel) up to 85% PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience working in the Office of the Attorney General or other governmental agency Work experience with the responsibility of driving a motor vehicle Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Internet Explorer, and Outlook One year full-time general office, courier, or customer service experience TRAVEL 85% TO APPLY To apply for a job with the OAG, submit a completed State of Texas job application through the OAG Job Postings Page.
