General description
Join the Texas Treasury Safekeeping Trust Company as a Database Administrator V! Work involves database administration work, development and code promotion across multiple environments including development, test, production, and disaster recovery. This work will involve database creation and architecting; daily scheduled maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and tuning; security setup and review; research and recommend database software; develop maintenance scripts; perform senior level data warehouse, query development, ETL, BI and report development. The candidate must have the ability to learn new concepts quickly and apply knowledge appropriately in a highly active environment with ever-changing circumstances.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
5 years of responsible MS SQL database administration experience including SQL Server Integration Services and SQL Server Reporting Services. Five years at senior level.
5 years of database development and system design experience; experienced in writing stored procedures, tables, views, management scripts, SSRS, SSIS, creating relational database.
5 years of experience with database backup and restoration.
5 years of experience with DBMS performance monitoring and tuning.
Preferred Qualifications
Major coursework in computer science, management information systems, or a related field is generally preferred.
Current (within the last two years) DBMS administration experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2016 +.
Experience running MS SQL in a virtualized environment.
Experience promoting scripts, SSIS packages, SSRS reports, configurations, and developer code
Preferred data warehouse experience.
Preferred experience developing in DevOps, PowerBI, C#, .Net, JSON, Python, SSIS and SSRS
Preferred Oracle and MySQL DBMS administration experience.
Substitutions
Education requirement may be substituted with up to four (4) years of related experience.
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS
Preferred – Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA), Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), Microsoft Solutions Expert (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS), Network+, Server+, VMware 5.x certification, SQL Server, A+, MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional).
In this role you will:
Designs and develops logical and physical data models, database relationships, data access objects, including tables, views, functions, and stored procedures,
Designs and develops data warehouse, BI tools, ETL processes and reports
Works with application development staff to design and review interfaces, tune database models and database queries in new and existing systems.
Performs database performance monitoring and implements efficiency improvements.
Builds and refines new and existing indexes.
Designs and implements procedures for monitoring, evaluation, and tuning of database hardware and software to maintain an efficient and cost-effective database system.
Performs code migrations between environments, which includes stored procedures, SSIS packages, SSRS reports, accounting system configurations and upgrades to systems as required.
Designs and implements procedures necessary to save, retrieve, and recover databases from hardware and software failure as well as establishing database security standards and controls.
