General description
Join the Budget and Internal Accounting Division team as an Accountant VI! Work involves preparing and overseeing financial analyses and accounting documents and reports. Specializes in financial transactions, including journal vouchers, budget transfers, encumbrance adjustments and general ledger entry. The candidate must have the ability to learn new concepts quickly and apply knowledge appropriately in a highly active environment with ever-changing circumstances. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
6 years of progressive full-time experience in state agency accounting.
Preferred Qualifications
Centralized Accounting Payroll/Personnel System (Financials)
Federal funds management, oversight and reporting, including preparation of the Schedule of Federal Awards (SEFA)
Annual Financial Report preparation
Substitutions
Education requirement may be substituted with up to four (4) years of related experience.
In this role you will:
Manages the daily, weekly and monthly activities needed to maintain the integrity of agency funds, including federal and revolving loan funds. Responsible for federal funds drawdowns.
Researches and reconciles agency accounting and budget transactions between the Centralized Accounting and Payroll/Personnel System (CAPPS) and the Uniform Statewide Accounting System (USAS). Confirms/adjusts budget levels in CAPPS for payroll processing as needed.
Prepares financial transactions, including journal vouchers, budget transfers and encumbrance adjustments for entry into USAS or CAPPS. Maintains section files in an orderly manner, including the preparation of records for storage at the Texas State Library.
Assists with the preparation of the agency’s Annual Financial Report and Annual Report of Nonfinancial Data and prepares various schedules as needed. Prepares the Schedule of Federal Awards (SEFA) for federal reporting.
Assists with the compilation of data for the annual Statewide Cost Allocation Plan (SWCAP) in coordination with the Information Technology Division. Assists with the allocation of agency costs for consumable supplies from a common allocation pool.
