TxDOT’s Financial Management Division is seeking a team member with business support services experience and strong interpersonal skills, to serve as a Special Projects Coordinator in Austin, TX. The ideal candidate is an effective communicator, is very tech savvy, and possesses the ability to timely and accurately report on the financial, technical, and operational activities of a multibillion-dollar entity.

 Minimum Yearly Salary: 48,278.00  

Maximum Yearly Salary: 78,953.00  

Work Locations: Stassney Hq – Main  (6230 East Stassney Lane Austin 78744)

 Shift Details: Flexible 40-hour work week Location Flexibility: Hybrid

Position Description

 Performs advanced professional, administrative and/or consultative work in support of a program or project. Facilitates the planning, development, and implementation of goals, objectives, guidelines, procedures, schedules, priorities and/or methods for achieving program or project goals. Work requires extensive contact with department management, and external governmental agencies and organizations. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product. Reports to the Financial and Business Services Manager.

Essential Duties:

  • Develops and implements effective techniques for evaluating agency programs.
  • Evaluates statistical data and interprets results; prepares reports on program and/or project activities.
  • Evaluates, develops and interprets policies/procedures.
  • Interprets and disseminates legislative information and/or prepares operational and financial impact analyses of legislative proposals.
  • Prepares sensitive and high-level correspondence and administrative or technical reports.
  • Researches and develops programs, projects, activities or procedures.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

 Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, public administration, information technology/systems or a related discipline. Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

Experience: 4 years business analysis, project or program administration, or related experience. (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools
  • Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs

  • Standing-prolonged periods of time
  • Talking-expressing or exchanging ideas by spoken words
  • Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading
