Staff Auditor – Austin, Texas

The Office of the Governor is looking for a Staff Auditor (Auditor I – II) to work in the Office of Compliance and Monitoring.

What You’ll Do

This is a job that involves examining and reviewing accounting records, reports, and management practices to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and/or regulations, as well as internal guidance. Based on your analysis, you will prepare reports documenting your evaluations. You will be called upon to perform desk monitoring reviews on grantees receiving funds awarded by the Office of the Governor and provide technical assistance when needed.

What You’ll Earn

The salary is $4,166.67 – $4,750.00 a month ($50,000.04 – $57,000.00 a year).

What You Need to Get Hired

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in business administration, accounting, finance, auditing, or related field.
  • Knowledge of auditing standards (e.g., Government Auditing Standards, AICPA Statements on Auditing Standards).
  • Knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Experience in examining management practices, policies/procedures, and financial accounting records to ensure standards are being met and to determine ongoing compliance with legal regulations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with individuals inside and outside the agency.
  • Ability to compose clear and concise audit findings and reports.

Other Things We’ll be Looking For           

  • Nine (9) hours of college level accounting courses.
  • Experience in grant or non-profit accounting, grant monitoring, or grant auditing.
  • An auditor II will need at least one (1) year of experience in auditing, accounting, compliance monitoring (financial), financial investigation, and/or grant management (financial).
