Job Summary:
Performs highly complex (senior-level) accounts examination work. Work involves examining and auditing reports and financial accounting records; collecting fees, taxes, or penalties; investigating account discrepancies; and preparing reports and letters. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. This position reports to the CBOD Deputy Director with daily office activity and assignments coordinated by the Licensing and Accounting Services Coordinator in the Charitable Bingo Operations Division. This is a hybrid position and not a 100% teleworking position.
Qualifications:
• Graduation from a standard senior high school or GED equivalent is required. (Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in accounting or a related field is preferred.)
• Three years experience in accounting or auditing is required. (Thirty (30) semester hours of college credit may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.)
• Two years experience in accounts examination work is required.
• Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel is required.
• Experience with accounting software is preferred.
• Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as workload may require.
• Experience in interpreting state laws, rules, and regulations is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of state fees and tax laws, rules, and regulations and of accounting and auditing procedures and techniques.
• Skill in the use of personal computers to include word processing and spreadsheet software applications (i.e., Word or Excel), including preparing letters, reconciliations, charts, and graphs.
• Ability to analyze reports and data with a strong attention to detail.
• Ability to prepare clear and concise reports and prepare correspondence regarding findings supported by detailed analysis.
• Ability to organize and maintain files and records.
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work activities.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to meet and deal tactfully and effectively with others, both in person and on the telephone.
• Will be required to complete division or Commission training to enhance job-related skills.
• Will be required to become proficient in operation of all specialized equipment and software related to job duties, personal computers, BOSS, CAMP, and other software applications.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
• Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time; work under deadlines; and operate standard office equipment and computer software.
• Ability to manually lift file boxes weighing up to 25 lbs.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and work well under pressure of deadlines.
Essential Job Functions:
• Processes forms and documentation submitted by bingo organizations including:
o Examines records, forms, reports, and documentation for accuracy of computations, rates, fees, and payments and completeness of the required forms.
o Enters data and updates organization’s accounts in agency’s systems.
o Contacts organizations and coordinates with other agency sections/departments to resolve accounting edit or account issues.
o Requests original or amended forms or reports from organizations and collects fees or penalties due.
• Analyzes, reconciles, and completes source documents in support of automated systems. Reconciliations include such items as exceptions, bonds, non-filers, adjustments, bingo prize fees and charitable distributions.
• Verifies, reviews, and audits checks and documents received in the mailroom.
• Processes, sorts, and mails reports and system generated and manually prepared letters to organizations.
• Researches accounts and prepares letters to help enforce state laws using various statutory collection tools such as payee holds, bond forfeitures, and/or suspension of licenses.
• Receives incoming calls, answers inquiries, and provides guidance concerning accounting forms, department operations or regulations, and legal requirements.
• Performs collections on insufficient checks and delinquent or problematic accounts.
• Maintains systems and use of internal control procedures to promote accuracy and determines compliance with agency policies, plans, and procedures and state and federal statutes.
• Analyzes and recommends improvements, adaptations, or revisions to policies and procedures.
• Assists in developing, reviewing, and/or updating procedures for accounting department functions and applicable division procedures.
• May perform system testing.
• Performs related work as assigned.

SELECTIVE SERVICE REGISTRATION
