General Description

Performs highly complex (senior-level) legal work. Evaluates requests for Prescription Monitoring Program data under the agency’s Law Enforcement Access Portal and Patient Access Program, reviews and directs responses to requests for information under the Texas Public Information Act, overseeing and planning legal activities, preparing legal documents, interpreting laws and regulations, and rendering legal advice and counsel. Works closely with the agency’s Deputy General Counsel in a team environment regarding legal matters. May assist Deputy General Counsel in rendering legal advice regarding agency operations.

Works under limited supervision of the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel, with considerable latitude to exercise initiative and independent judgment within the limits of the agency and division policies and procedures.
