Position Summary

We are seeking a senior level programmer to support and maintain vital applications for internal and external users.  This role includes working with SharePoint, ServiceNow, Salesforce, Drupal, and Appian.  Filling the position is critical to the ITS mission of providing and maintaining vital applications that support all of DIR.  This person will be a team member of the IT Applications Development team, supporting application design, programming, troubleshooting, testing, and training on new and existing applications.

Performs advanced (senior-level) computer programming work. Works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Employees at this level may fully perform highly complex programming work and may coordinate and/or perform highly complex coding, testing, and debugging of applications, as outlined by system requirements.

  • Prepare detailed analysis, plans, diagrams, and validation procedures for existing and proposed computer applications.
  • Complete requirements analysis, design, development, test and deployment of new application components, as required.
  • Work directly with customers, system administrators project managers, and QA teams for validation
  • Configure and maintain Appian environments (Dev, QA, Prod)
  • May assist with managing user roles, security policies, and access control
  • Monitor system health, resolve performance issues, and optimize UI performance and responsiveness.
  • Support DevOps and CI/CD for Appian deployments and apply upgrades and patches in a timely manner.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Education

  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in computer science or related field.
  • Additional work-related experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis (High-school diploma required.

Experience and Training Required

  • Minimum of five (5) years – seven (7) years of experience in in SharePoint
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience developing with one or more of the following web-based UI’s and applications: HTML5, CSS, .Net, .Net C# Web Services, JSP, XML, XSLT, CAML, SQL, T-SQL, SOAP, WSDL or AJAX technologies

Experience and Training Preferred

  • Accessing databases like MS SQL Server, MariaDB, and Oracle
  • Familiarity or experience with ServiceNow
  • Familiarity with PowerShell to run automated tasks
  • Familiarity with Salesforce
  • Preferred Certifications:
    • Microsoft 365 Fundamentals
    • Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of cross-site scripting and SQL injection security issues
  • Knowledge of Windows, UNIX, and Linux operating systems
  • Knowledge of internet and Windows networking technologies and applications
  • Skilled in technical aptitude and experienced in agile delivery
  • Skilled in design, implementation, and problem-solving
  • Skilled in programming and script in C#, Java, JavaScript, JSP, ASP, ASP.NET, PHP, APEX, and PowerShell
  • Knowledge or familiarity of JSON
  • Skilled in preparing documentation, manuals, and production run instructions
  • Skilled in Coordinating application designs and technical documentation
  • Skilled in providing technical support for testing and implementation
  • Ability to learn and apply new, complex development/configuration tools
  • Ability to analyze applications and databases for performance tuning
  • Ability to evaluate proposed applications for requirements and capabilities
  • Ability to design, code, and unit test applications
  • Ability to consult with customers and coordinate programming projects
  • Ability to Generate or install system software and develop standards as needed
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cordial working relationships at all organizational levels, including agency management, direct supervisors, co-workers, internal and external customers.
  • Ability to understand, follow and convey brief oral and/or written instructions.

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency in the use of a computer and applicable software necessary to perform work assignments e.g., word processing, spreadsheets (Microsoft Office preferred).
