Senior Financial Analyst – Austin, Texas

The Office of the Governor is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst (Financial Analyst V) to work in the Financial Services Division.

The salary is $8,750.00 – $10,000.00 a month ($105,000.00 – $120,000.00 a year).

What You’ll Do

This position performs highly advanced (senior-level) financial analysis and regulatory work.  Work involves compiling, reviewing, and analyzing financial data; preparing reports and responding to inquiries; and recommending appropriate action to resolve financial and regulatory issues.

  • Performs senior-level financial reporting and analysis for the administrative and programmatic activities within the Office of the Governor.
  • Develops and maintains detailed executive financial summaries as directed by the CFO.
  • Coordinates analysis of agency’s programs to determine their effect on the financial management of the agency’s resources which can include budget variance reports.
  • Establishes and monitors internal controls for FSD.
  • Ensures compliance with established procedures, requirements, laws and regulations.
  • Works with units within FSD on Public Information Requests (PIR’s), internal and external audits, and other reviews of financial information.
  • Evaluates existing processes and procedures, documents as necessary and makes recommendations to enhance efficiency within the agency.
  • Conducts quality control reviews of the allocation process between agencies.
  • Provides interpretation on technical questions of financial and regulatory compliance with applicable state and federal statutes and regulations.
  • Collaborates with other FSD staff on internal and external audits.
  • Compiles or performs ad-hoc request of senior-level accounting work as directed by the CFO.
  • May evaluate, monitor, and compile information for Statewide Cost Allocation Plan (SWCAP) and agency’s Indirect Cost Allocation Plan.
  • May reconcile various ledgers in the Centralized Accounting and Payroll/Personnel System (CAPPS) accounting system.  Performs variance analysis between the State of Texas Uniform Statewide Accounting System (USAS), CAPPS, and internal systems as needed.
  • Maintains a regular work attendance and may work extended hours as needed.

How You’ll Qualify

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in finance, accounting, economic development, economics, business administration, or a related field; and
  • Five (5) years of professional experience in finance, accounting, economic development, economics, business administration, political science, public administration, or a related field.

Note: Experience and education may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis.  Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) will substitute for two (2) years of experience.

  • Experience using the CAPPS financials and USAS.
