Senior International Business Representative – Austin, Texas
The Office of the Governor is looking for a Senior International Business Representative (Program Specialist VI) to work in the Economic Development and Tourism Office (EDT) – Business Development.

The salary is $5,950.00 – $8,083.34 a month ($71,400.00 – 97,000.08 a year).

What You’ll Do
This position performs highly advanced (senior-level) consultative services and technical assistance, and provides direction to staff, businesses, constituents, economic development organizations, and local, state and federal units of government. Work involves assisting businesses and their representatives in the site selection process and coordinating with the regional representatives and Texas communities.
- Consults with and provides technical assistance to businesses, economic development staff, economic development organizations, industry associations and related local, state and federal units of government located in and outside the region.
- Identifies and locates financing, business sites, market/sales opportunities, and sources of supplies and raw materials in the region.
- Coordinates and collaborates with program staff in program planning, development, implementation, analysis, and documentation for business prospects.
- Collects, organizes, analyzes, and prepares materials in response to requests for program information.
- Develops marketing strategies to attract industry domestically and globally.
- Organizes and solicits business participation in trade and investment promotion events including overseas and domestic trade shows, catalogue and video catalogue shows, trade and recruitment missions, matchmaking programs, and in-bound buyer missions.
- Assists other EDT offices/programs, Texas communities and organizations, as well as other government offices, as required.
- Speaks to community and international business stakeholders regarding international business activities in accordance with the EDT strategic plan.
- Oversees the delivery of services; determines and packages the needs of business prospects to include site location information.
- Represents EDT at functions related to economic development activities and other OOG activities as needed.
- Serves as liaison to industrial recruitment allies statewide, including chambers of commerce, economic development organizations, and regional groups.
- Remains well-informed of division and OOG initiatives, operations, new releases, web content, programs, statewide trends, OOG policies and procedures.
- Maintains a status on project performance.
- Provides customer service to both internal and external customers.
How You’ll Qualify
- High school graduate or equivalent; and
- Six (6) years of progressive responsible professional experience.
Note: Experience and education may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis.
You’re a Great Fit with
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in business, international trade, economics, economic development, urban or regional planning, commercial real estate, political science, government, marketing, communications or a related field; and
- Completion of Basic Economic Development Course (BEDC).
