Fellowship Program Position: This Fellowship Program position is a full-time, temporary, limited term assignment not to exceed three years from the data of hire. It is intended for individuals that have graduated with a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree from an accredited college or university within the last 12 months.
The Cybersecurity Associate assists with information security project and training work. The incumbent will create training materials, deliver training, and assist with risk management and security vulnerability projects. This position will proactively work with the Information Security team, TRS business units, members of TRS leadership, and agency staff.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Cybersecurity Training
• Plans instructional strategies such as lectures, demonstrations, multimedia presentations, video courses, and web-based courses for most effective learning environment.
• Creates interactive learning exercises and ensures training meets the goals and objectives for cybersecurity training, education, or awareness.
• Assists in the development of training policies for cybersecurity training, privacy training, and other communications to increase employee understanding of company privacy policies, data handling practices and procedures, and legal obligations.
• Delivers training courses tailored to the audience and physical/virtual environments.
Information Systems Security
• Coordinates with internal and external subject matter experts to ensure existing qualification standards reflect organizational functional requirements and meet industry standards.
• Develops or assists in the development of cyber policy and supply chain security.
• Assists with risk management and mitigation strategies.
• Assists with security violations and follow-up actions.
• Assists with collection, processing, preservation, analysis, and presentation of computer-related evidence in support of network vulnerability mitigation, and/or fraud investigations.
General Functions
• May assist in researching, compiling, and analyzing data; entering data into spreadsheets, databases, and other automated applications; and preparing complex queries and reports.
• May review forms, correspondence, reports, and other documents for completeness and acceptability.
• May assist in reviewing and analyzing agency policies, procedures, and forms and recommending changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
• Assists in completing special projects and performs other work as assigned.
Fellowship Curriculum
• Participates in trainings and projects related to the TRS Fellowship Program including webinars, quarterly check-ins, classes or other learning activities, book group, projects, and the mentoring program.
• Meets TRS Fellowship Program deadlines and goals for completion of trainings in deliverables in a timely manner.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
Required Education
• Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field awarded within the last 12 months.
Required Experience
• None.
Required Registration, Certification, or Licensure
• None.
Preferred Qualifications
• One (1) year of directly related cybersecurity or information security experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
• General office practices and procedures.
• The principles, practices, and techniques of information security.
• Operational support of networks, operating systems, Internet technologies, databases, and security applications.
Skills in:
• Organizing and prioritizing work to manage a high-volume workload in a fast-paced environment, and completing work accurately while meeting deadlines.
• Conducting data searches and evaluations of large amounts of information, performing complex analysis of the data, and preparing concise and accurate reports and written/oral recommendations.
• Verbal and written communication of complex information that is accurate, timely, and based on sound judgment.
• Providing quality customer service.
• Reviewing documentation; properly applying complex laws, regulations, rules, and policies; and making decisions based on sound judgment.
• Using a personal computer in a Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) environment, and accurately performing data entry.
Ability to:
• Establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with co-workers, agency staff, and other external contacts.
• Work effectively in a professional team environment.
Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) Codes:
