The Office of the Governor is looking for a Systems Administrator (Systems Administrator III) to work in the Information Services Division.

The salary is $6,666.67 – $7,253.83 a month ($80,000.04 – $87,045.96 a year).

What You’ll Do
This position performs complex (journey-level) systems administration work. Work involves maintaining the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of systems; installing and upgrading computer components and system software; and providing hardware and software support to agency users.
- Responsible for overseeing agency endpoint devices (desktops, laptops, phones), including configuration management, imaging, software deployment, and vulnerability remediation.
- Performs mid-level systems administration tasks within the division.
- Participates in Tier 2 user support duties; covers Tier 1 support duties when needed.
- Installs, configures, maintains, and administers computers, laptops, mobile devices, servers, operating systems, and applications.
- Analyzes, troubleshoots, and resolves system hardware, software, and networking issues; provides status reports to management.
- Cross-trains to provide backup to other systems administrators on critical agency systems.
- Researches, develops, and documents operating procedures for technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Studies existing information processing systems to evaluate effectiveness, and recommends new systems to improve production or workflow as required.
- Assists with managing the roles and access privileges of users and devices to a variety of applications to prevent unauthorized access.
- May evaluate and recommend action on testing and certification of system software and hardware upgrades.
How You’ll Qualify
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in computer science, management information systems, or a related field; and
- Two (2) years of professional experience in systems support and/or systems administration work.
Note: Experience and education may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis. Non-traditional work experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
This position is identified as a critical infrastructure role under Texas Executive Order GA-48. A requirement for hire and continued employment is the ability to maintain the security and integrity of the state’s critical infrastructure as defined in the Business and Commerce Code, Section 113.001(2). This includes adherence to heightened background check procedures and compliance with all GA-48 restrictions related to foreign adversaries.
You’re a Great Fit with
- Four (4) years of professional experience in systems support and/or systems administration work within an IT department; or
- Professional experience for six (6) years performing systems support and/or systems administration work in a state, city, government, or commercial organization but outside of an IT department with no such title held.
